Self-Help for Anxiety

The Bible helps in coping with anxiety, which is a common experience for many people in modern life.

About 25% of the adult population in the United States will experience serious anxiety at some point in their lives.

Understanding the nature of anxiety, including its type and severity, is important in order to know what you're dealing with.

The Bible offers practical strategies for dealing with anxiety in all its forms.

Knowing the diverse causes of anxiety and where your issues with anxiety might have come from can help you determine which concepts in the Bible will be most helpful.

The Bible can help with anxiety in several ways:

Encouragement and Comfort: The Bible contains many verses that provide encouragement and comfort to those who are anxious or worried. For example, Philippians 4:6-7 says, "Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."

Wisdom and Guidance: The Bible contains wisdom and guidance for dealing with difficult situations and emotions, including anxiety. Proverbs 12:25 says, "Anxiety in a man's heart weighs him down, but a good word makes him glad." The Bible provides good words and guidance to help overcome anxiety.

Trust in God: The Bible teaches that we can trust in God to help us in times of anxiety and worry.

Psalm 56:3-4 says, "When I am afraid, I put my trust in you. In God, whose word I praise, in God I trust; I shall not be afraid. What can flesh do to me?"

Prayer: The Bible teaches that we can bring our worries and anxieties to God in prayer. 1 Peter 5:7 says, "Cast all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you."

Overall, the Bible can offer comfort, guidance, wisdom, and faith to those struggling with anxiety.
