The Basis of the Judgment of God

There is evil in the world. Sometimes it is hard to see wicked people succeed while good people suffer. Sometimes it is difficult to understand the will of God, that is why I recommend to have time for prayer and Bible reading.

Our devotional story this week is based on Romans 2:2:

Romans 2:2

2 Now we know that God's judgment is against those who do such things is based on truth.

Here are my key takeaways from the verse above:

1. There is a judgment for people who commit the sins of the flesh

2. God's judgment is based on truth

Let's discuss these concepts separately.

Judgment for People Who Commit the Sins of the Flesh

Galatians 5:19-21

English Standard Version

19 Now the works of the flesh are evident: sexual immorality, impurity, sensuality, 20 idolatry, sorcery, enmity, strife, jealousy, fits of anger, rivalries, dissensions, divisions, 21 envy, drunkenness, orgies, and things like these.

I warn you, as I warned you before, that those who do such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.

These verses listed the sins of the flesh which we are not supposed to do.

Based on Romans 2:2, we should not do any of these sins or else face judgment.

God's Judgment Is Based on Truth

Corinthians 4:5

English Standard Version

5 Therefore do not pronounce judgment before the time, before the Lord comes, who will bring to light the things now hidden in darkness and will disclose the purposes of the heart.

Then each one will receive his commendation from God.

God is all-knowing and a wise judge. When He judges us during the rapture, we can be sure that He will not be biased. We will be judged according to our words, thoughts and actions.

We Should Focus on The Things of God

We only have 24 hours a day. If we plan our day wisely, we can fill out our schedules with Godly things and leave no room to act on our sinful urges.

Think about the things you love doing. Some examples could be art, music, cooking, etc. You're passionate about these things because God placed them in your heart. You can work on a project and offer it to Jesus.

You can also schedule a time to volunteer in ministry and community service.

Revisit your passion and offer it to God. It's never too late.

What If We Fail?

Stealing a line from Hamilton, it's not a question of if Burr, we will fail.

Good thing our salvation is not dependent on us; it's dependent on Jesus.

God knew we could not fulfil the commands in the Bible, so He sent Jesus to live a life of a mortal and complete God's commands for us. As far as the work of salvation is concerned, it is done.

There is one thing that we need to do, accept Jesus as our Lord.

Accepting Christ means that we submit to the will of God.

Before you get turned off by this, look into God's will for you first. You'll be surprised by what God has planned for you.

Initially, it will be scary, because it could mean a lifestyle change, but as you seek God, you will see that you're heading to a direction that you truly wanted.

Let's Sum it Up

Sin has consequences. The wages of sin is death.

Sinning is scary. It locks you in a temporary habit of pleasure then it bombards you with consequences that could knock you down.

We try our best not to sin for our benefit. When we fail, we seek Jesus. His grace abounds.

Prayer of Salvation

Friend, if you want to know Jesus, but you are unsure of your standing in faith, say this prayer. God sees your heart, so say the words with conviction and faith.

"Father, I am a sinner. Forgive my sins. I believe that Jesus died on the cross so I could live fully on earth and in heaven. Change my heart and mind according to your will. This I pray, in the mighty Name of Jesus, amen."

Friend, if you prayed this prayer in faith, I believe you have set things right with God.
