God's Love and Our Purpose

In this piece, we will talk about:

Romans 1:6-7

New International Version

6 And you also are among those Gentiles who are called to belong to Jesus Christ.

7 To all in Rome who are loved by God and called to be his holy people:

Grace and peace to you from God our Father and from the Lord Jesus Christ.

Here are my key takeaways from the verses:

1. God loves everyone.

John 3:16

English Standard Version (ESV)

16 "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.

Society sees God as a deity that condemns people, but we should not believe that. God loves us unconditionally.

Life can be so hard that it's easy to think that nobody cares for us. It's easier to believe that God is not good all the time. This is far from the truth.

We have a God who wants us to fulfil our purpose in life. Sometimes He will allow adverse circumstances to happen if it will help us achieve our goals since challenges develop character.

We may not understand His timing for everything, but He works both the good and the bad for our benefit.

We are not alone, but we need to learn how to communicate with God. Just like any skill, talking to God and hearing from God require practice.

I started my devotional time with God by following the 555 rule:

5 minutes of prayer, 5 minutes of reading the Bible, and 5 minutes of reflection.

You can come up with your own strategy. The more you commune with God, the more you'll feel His love.

2. God calls everyone.

Jeremiah 1:5

English Standard Version (ESV)

5 "Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born, I consecrated you; I appointed you a prophet to the nations."

Each one of us is created with a purpose. God calls us in His ministry, and He is not waiting for us to be perfect. God wants to use us right now.

God never used perfect people. The great men and women of faith in the Bible were not perfect. Moses had temper issues, Peter denied Jesus and Paul killed Christians.

When we talk to God regularly, He will reveal our overwhelming purpose. Don't fret when you receive your Godly goal. We will receive empowerment from God to fulfil His plans for us. God will use us to share His love to the ends of the earth.

3. Grace and Peace is a gift from God.

Ephesians 2:8-9

English Standard Version (ESV)

8 For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, 9 not a result of works, so that no one may boast.

God does not condemn us. God loves us for who we are.

He knew that we cannot fulfil all the commands in the Bible. Instead of punishing us, He sent Jesus to complete the work for us.

No one can say that he/she is better than anyone. All of us fell short of the glory of God. Only through faith in Jesus can we be righteous.

Because of God's grace, it's okay to make mistakes. We will forever be forgiven. We should strive hard to follow Jesus, but we should not condemn ourselves when we fail because God is not condemning us.

Philippians 4:7

English Standard Version (ESV)

7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Because of God's love, we should have peace in our hearts.

If God is with us, who can be against us?

If God is with us, is there anything impossible for us?

We should place our worries at Jesus' feet without hesitation because He does not condemn us. He will turn our concerns into peace beyond understanding.

Let's Sum it Up

God loves us. We may find it hard to believe because of the things we do, but God's love is not based on our actions. God loves us because He is love.

We have a mission. Everyone is called to share God's love with the world. We also have specific goals, and we will only learn about them if we seek Jesus.

Prayer of Salvation

Friend, if you want to complete God's mission for you, but you are unsure of your standing in faith, say this prayer.

God sees your heart, so say the words with conviction and faith.

"Father, I am a sinner. Forgive my sins. I believe that Jesus died on the cross so I could live fully on earth and in heaven. Change my heart and mind according to your will. This I pray, in the mighty Name of Jesus, amen."

Friend, if you prayed this prayer in faith, I believe you have set things right with God.
