A Familiar Face

I had to present a business process that was entirely new to me. I practically memorised it but the perfectionist in me wanted to go over the policies again and again to gain confidence in presenting it.

Thank God for technology. I was able to review my presentation on my phone while I was on the train. Anyway, because I was so focused on my learning materials, I almost missed my stop. I hurried to get off at the station. I read my presentation while walking towards the platform for my next train. I got on my designated platform via muscle memory, and I realised that I need to check if I’m really at the correct stop. Then I saw Mr. Leather-jacket-beats-headphones guy.

You see, we always get on the same train. I see him every morning riding on the same train as I am so when I saw him, I didn’t even bother to check the platform number. I knew I’m where I’m supposed to be.

Life can be too fast that it’s difficult to keep track if we’re still going in the right direction. Sometimes we need to see that familiar face that will remind us that we’re heading the right way. Jesus is that familiar face.

The Bible says:

Hebrews 12:2

New International Version (NIV)

2 Fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him, he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

We need to focus on Jesus if we want to make sure that we’re on the right path. What would Jesus do if given different options? What is Jesus’ opinion regarding specific topics? The only way for us to learn about what Jesus wants is to read the Bible. We should set time to read the Bible daily. We must do it day and night. Only then will we get familiar with the ways of the Lord and He will direct our steps.
