I was scheduled to do a presentation at work, and I wanted to be ready for it. Sorry I lied, I wanted to be great!
4:00 AM to 5:00 AM
I woke up early instead of staying up late to study because I believe my mind is more open to learning after a good night’s sleep. I opened my facilitator guides, read and planned my activities for the day. It felt good when I finished. I just knew that it would be a great presentation.
5:00 AM to 8:00 AM
I did my morning rituals— Pray, read the Bible and exercise— and then it was time to get ready for work. I prepared my attire. Showered. My wife cooked a delicious breakfast. Even my train was on time. Everything was working as planned.
8:00 AM at Work
When I got to work, I greeted my boss with a warm good morning. She greeted me as well. She then informed me that my report was not adequate and I had to start over. I need to finish it during the day.
My co-trainer volunteered to cover for me on the first part of the presentation while I worked on the report. I rushed to finish it.
My co-trainer asked me how I was doing and I said, I needed more time. He then said he would cover for me for the rest of the morning session. I thanked him and continued working.
After a few hours, I looked at the time, and I realised I would need the whole day to fix the report. I told my teammate about it and he was more than willing to cover for me.
I spent the whole day working on my report, and I wasn’t able to do what I prepared for. I believe that the Holy Spirit spoke to me that day, and He said that everything was still okay even if things didn’t go according to my plans. Everything works together for good for those who trust in God.
And it did! In the end, I completed my report, my trainees learned what they were supposed to learn that day, and I was able to go home early to my family.
It’s good to prepare, but we should not stress ourselves out. Make adequate preparations, relax and leave the rest to God.
New International Version (NIV)
6 Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7 And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
