Inspired

I talked to a friend on Facebook one time, and it wasn’t an encouraging conversation. She started out with how bad the economy was and that she works twelve hours a day but still not get enough money to pay for her family’s bills. She’s a single mother of two who works in a factory in the Philippines. Her husband left her for another woman when he got his big break abroad a few years ago. I was in the same place as her before, but something within me didn’t want to be emphatic. I tried to convince her that she was not a victim. I shared the story of Christine Caine. Christine was sexually abused for years, she was racially discriminated against, and was abandoned by her parents. Christine had every excuse to lead a life of despair, but she chose to lead a life of victory. Christine knew that she was extraordinarily damaged and that she couldn’t fix her life on her own, so she sought after God. Christine got a degree, a good husband, two lovely daughters, best-selling books, and a ministry against human-trafficking. I shared the story of Nick Vujicic, a man born with no arms and legs. He had every reason to live depressed and without purpose, but he chose to live life fully and became an inspiration to millions all because of his faith in God. He has a beautiful wife and son as a bonus. I asked my friend, “Why do you think Jesus died on the cross?” She said, “I am not really sure, but I believe that it is for the people.” I shared the Gospel with her and explained how Jesus died because He offered His life as payment for our sins so that we can enjoy the fullness of life here on earth as well as in heaven. I asked her, “Do you believe God can change your circumstances?” She said “Yes!” I said, “I believe with you!“ John 10:10 New International Version (NIV) 10 The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.
