I saw a video of a father who brought his son to a Coldplay concert. The clip showed the father and son duo enjoying and celebrating to the song “Fix You.” You see, Coldplay was his son’s favourite band and what made it so amazing is that the child has autism and his father never saw him this engaged before.
The son’s reaction was amazing! He raised his hands, he shouted, he laughed and cried all at the same time. It’s unbelievable how music can touch the heart of anyone.
The father’s reaction to his son affected me profoundly. There he was, in front of one of the world’s best bands and surrounded by beautiful people rejoicing at that moment, and yet nothing meant more to him than the expression on his son’s face.
For every shout and tear that came from his son, the father would cry for joy. He embraced and kissed his boy. He didn’t say anything, but I knew he told his boy that he loved him with his actions.
I thank God for earthly fathers like this Dad. It shows how an imperfect human being can show unconditional love. Imagine our perfect father from heaven? He is extremely so much better than all the great fathers that walked this earth combined.
God is not an angry supernatural being who hates us. He is a caring Dad who looks at us in love. He knows all our faults and yet He chose to love us. We should get to know our perfect Father in heaven, and share intimate moments with Him.
1 John 4:7-8
Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God, and everyone that loves is born of God and knows God. He that loves not knows not God; for God is love.
