Overcome Worry

I was the driver of my life, the captain of my destiny. I planned, and I made sure that I was in control of everything. I thought that being my own master was the means to achieve happiness and peace, but I was wrong.

Placing my fate in my hands was tough. I got worried about everything— grades, achievements, appearance, possessions, money, what people think, what’s going to happen next— and It didn't feel right.

I felt so burdened and that I was getting exhausted. I was troubled and irritable. My anxiousness robbed me of peaceful nights. My mind and my heart were in chaos.

One day while I was going through a stressful time, I saw a phrase that gave my heart comfort. It said, "Nothing under God's control will be out of control."

This phrase made me realise that the reason why I worry was that I didn't trust God enough. I was busy leading my life that I failed to allow God to be my Lord. I learned that the things that I was anxious about didn’t matter because Jesus is in control.

From that day, I committed to putting my confidence in Jesus. I was encouraged by His words, "Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you." -Peter 5:7 I also embraced Matthew 6:33 which says, "Seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you." Indeed, Jesus is enthroned in my heart right now.

Today, I can confidently say that I have finally overcome restlessness. Instead of being consumed by worry, I am now free to enjoy the goodness of life knowing that God cares for me and that He is in control. All I have to do is to put Him first in everything that I do and trust Him wholeheartedly.

Philippians 4:6

"Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your request to God.
