Bill and Jam were best friends. Since they were kids, they’ve been very competitive.
They competed for the first place in class, team captain of the varsity, and top position in their school’s student government. Bill always came on top and Jam always placed second.
After college, they both got hired by the same company. Since both of them were brilliant and worked very hard, they became team leaders in the organisation.
Bill said to himself, “I will make sure that Jam won’t get ahead of me. I’m going to work harder than ever.” And so he did, he took more responsibilities than he was supposed to, and worked as a man possessed.
After a year, Bill’s team was the number one team in the organisation. Jam, on the other hand, was dead last. Bill said to Jam, “Nothing beats working hard!”
The following year, as expected, Bill’s team was once again the best team in the company. On the other hand, Jam’s team made considerable improvement, and they ranked top five. Bill said to Jam, “Good effort but you won’t beat me if you don’t work harder!”
On their third year, Bill got the number one spot again, but to everyone’s surprise, Jam’s team came the close second. Bill said to himself, “I shouldn’t be worried. He always comes second.”
At the end of their fourth year, Jam’s team became number one. Everyone in the company rejoiced. Bill wanted to be happy for his friend, but he didn’t like losing.
Bill vowed to work even harder. He got even more responsibilities. He became very eager to hear their company’s year-end report.
When they announced the number one team in the organisation, it was Jam’s team, and he was ahead by a huge margin!
Bill confronted Jam. He said, “How did you beat me? I was the first one to arrive at work and the last one to leave every single day? I did everything that I could to win! How did you do it! You probably cheated!”
Jam said, “Don’t be like that and don’t be too hard on yourself. While you were out there doing everything on your own, I invested my time developing my team. I had help while you were alone.”
Everyone needs help. That’s a fact! Accept that we cannot do everything on our own. Remember that God is just a prayer away. Let’s soar higher with Jesus! Spread positivity! Promote good vibes.
