My wife picked me up from the train station, and since we just moved to a new house, she was not familiar with the route home yet. She missed a turn, and we laughed about it. Instead of turning around we just continued the road we took. There was a shopping centre nearby, and we figured we could go through the mall’s parking lot to get home.
While driving through the car park, one car ignored the “give way” lines and blocked our path. My wife stepped on the break, waited for the car to let us through for about 3 seconds, reversed and let the car pass.
The car stopped at our side, and the driver gave us an angry gesture. I lost it at that point, and I retaliated with an “Are you stupid?” gesture.
My wife ignored the driver and just went on. After a few seconds, I felt guilt and regret. I knew I should have been better than that.
Think about it, if I could be bothered by such a minor incident, how could Jesus entrust me with significant responsibilities? How can God give me my breakthrough?
The good thing is that God’s mercies are new every morning. He loves me no matter what. Next time something like that happens I’ll do my best to manage my emotions very well.
2 Timothy 4:1-2
New International Version (NIV)
