Rant Away

It was the NBA Western Conference Finals. My favourite team went against the defending champs.

At first, I only wanted my team to avoid a blowout, and they did that. I knew I should be proud of them already, but It was game seven of a best of seven series, and we had home court advantage. No one thought we could make it this far, but something inside of me felt that maybe, just maybe, today we had a chance.

The game started and my team played well. We were playing better than the reigning champs until a series of wrong calls shifted the momentum of the game. The third quarter ended with my team down by eleven, and apparently, that was enough for us to lose our chances for the championship.

I’ll be honest. It affected me. I got so upset that I did something that I wasn’t proud of. I ranted on social media. I got the attention of a few people, and interestingly, the focus of one. We got into this debate which lasted for a few hours. I couldn’t even focus on my work.

Anyway, I went back to my senses. I felt regret instantly. I was doing great on social media. I was able to resist looking stupid on various platforms for a few good years, and there I was losing it again a few months before I release my book.

It made me realise something. The things that we are most passionate about could lead us to sin. If the desire we have for something becomes more significant than our longing to become like Christ, then we will sin. Lord, help us desire Your will more than anything.

Focus on Jesus. God will empower us as we spread positivity, promote good vibes and soar higher than ever!

Hebrews 12:2 New International Version

Fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.
