Friday:
I was very excited. I got a call, and it was a phone interview for my dream job. Apparently, I sent an online application for it and forgot.
My conversation with the manager went well, and I progressed to the next step: design a learning program and make a presentation.
I was pumped. They gave me two days to get ready. I was fired up to prepare the learning materials and practice the facilitation. I couldn’t eat and sleep.
Monday:
Time for my big demo. I knew in my heart I prepared well for it. I prayed, practised, ate, exercised and even wore a suit.
I arrived on time, and I knew God would lead me the whole way.
When the manager called my name, I was ready. I nailed it! I was confident, friendly and professional. Everything went according to plan.
I received nothing but praise from the manager. However, she didn’t hire me yet; she told me that she had to talk to HR about the procedures and she couldn’t guarantee anything. I said it was okay. She said I’ll hear from her by the end of the week.
Tuesday/Wednesday:
I didn’t receive a call.
Thursday:
I was doing my chores when I looked at the clock. 10:45 AM. I said to myself, “The manager told me I'd hear from her by the end of the week, funny I didn’t get any call.”
It was then when all my insecurities filled my head. Voices were saying stuff like:
“Why did you expect that you deserve that job?”
“You’re not good enough!”
“You still need to suffer for your sins!”
I was about to agree with them. However, I remembered that God blesses me not because of me, but because of Him. Jesus chose to die for me when I didn’t even know Him.
So I spoke the prayer of Jesus when He was at the Garden of Gethsemane, “Let Your will be done, Father!”
You know what, I got the call around 11:30 AM. Funny how I claim I have faith in the Lord when I couldn’t even trust Him for a whole week.
Yes, I got my dream job, and it isn’t even Friday.
Joshua 1:9 New International Version
Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go.
