One morning I was on the station platform waiting for my train to arrive when I saw three male teenagers playing around the floor. When the train came into view, one of the boys decided to stand at the edge of the scaffold. He stood over the sign that says, "Please mind the gap."
He got the attention of a young lady passenger, and she told the kid to stay back. The lad looked at her, looked at his friends and laughed. The boy looked back at the gentlewoman and acted as if he was about to jump off.
The boy got more attention after this, I for one became very interested. Many passengers started to stare. Some men sauntered towards the lad.
The teenager probably felt the pressure at this point, so he joined his friends behind the yellow line where passengers were supposed to stand.
The train stopped at our station after a minute.
People looked away after the boy moved from the edge. I didn't. I continued to observe him, and perhaps I was trying to figure out what he was thinking.
After all, I was young and reckless once.
The teen's face radiated with confidence. He told jokes and laughed out loud. That's when I realised-- the boy was celebrating!
Let's remind ourselves that celebrations are for things that make people's lives better or glorifies God.
We should work hard before we rejoice and not reward meaningless acts. We should start living our lives following God's purpose.
New International Version
7 In everything set them an example by doing what is good. In your teaching show integrity, seriousness 8 and soundness of speech that cannot be condemned, so that those who oppose you may be ashamed because they have nothing bad to say about us.
